NACo’s Annual Conference Yields New 2nd Vice-President, Transportation Policy Committee Chairman During the conference, elections are held for NACo’s Annual Officers and appointments for NACo’s policy steering committees are announced for the upcoming 12 months. This year’s election resulted in a ripple effect that touched NACE members, with new leadership of NACo’s Transportation Committee being a result of a close 2nd Vice-President election. Boone County, Kentucky Judge/Executive Gary Moore was elected to the office of NACo 2nd Vice-President; an office that will culminate is his serving as NACo’s President in 2020. Moore, who served as Chairman of NACo’s Transportation Steering Committee up to his election, had to relinquish that post to serve in this executive officer position. This development led to the appointment of Carver County, Minnesota Commissioner Randy Maluchnik as NACo’s new Transportation Steering Committee Chairman. Maluchnik, who previously served as NACo’s Highway & Highway Safety Subcommittee Chairman, assumed his new role upon Judge Moore’s ascent to 2nd Vice-President. As a result of Commissioner Maluchnik’s new role, Lane County, Oregon Commissioner Sid Leiken was named the new Highway & Highway Safety Subcommittee Chairman. “NACE congratulations Judge Moore, Commissioner Maluchnik and Commissioner Leiken on their new positions within the National Association of Counties”, said NACE President Rich Sanders, County Engineer for Polk County, Minnesota. “I look forward to working with each of them in ensuring county infrastructure remains strong, safe and at the forefront of the national policy debate.” Visit our Corporate Partners by clicking on their ads!
