July 2021 | Todd Kinney, pe
I wanted to get out a quick note to let everyone know what’s been happening with NACE. Due to the widespread questions and concerns regarding the American Rescue Plan (ARP) I asked the Executive Committee to reach out to their State Directors to gage the interest of having Kevan ask the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the National Association of Counties (NACo) if they would host a webinar geared specifically to county engineers (public works, highway supervisors etc..) topic areas. The responses were overwhelming in favor of seeking additional information for our members.
NACE is currently working with the NACo to provide clarity and support for counties looking to utilize the ARP. NACE will be accessing the over 900 questions asked by stakeholders across all sectors to create a transportation infrastructure specific Q&A document NACE members can utilize. For those with additional questions, NACE will also be creating a Q&A submission document to submit to both NACo and United States Department of the Treasury for additional guidance and resources.
On behalf of the NACE Executive Committee, I am pleased to announce the dates and location of our Fall Board meeting this October. This year’s Fall Board Meeting will take place in St. Louis, Missouri. This will keep with our commitment that this meeting be centrally located with minimal expenses incurred. The Fall Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 13 from 9:00am-noon CDT at the St. Louis Hilton at the Ballpark. I look forward to meeting with our State directors and Executive Committee at the Fall Board Meeting (hopefully in-person)!
On a more somber note, as you may know NACE Western Region VP Jim Porter has resigned his position with San Mateo County, California to accept a job offer in the private sector. We wish him well and thank him for his leadership these past few years. His departure from the public sector means his position as NACE Western Region VP is now open. We are currently accepting nominations from the Western Region for the position through July 16th.
If anyone has questions or comments regarding NACE please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or my cell phone (563) 249-6491.
Thank you for being NACE members and adding value to our outstanding organization.
